By Our Staff Reporter
IMPHAL, Dec 28 : A book titled "Colonial Records of the Kukis Raids in Manipur and Their Impact" was released today at the Manipur Press Club.
The book, authored by Yumnam Rajeshwor, was officially launched by retired IAS officer Dr RK Nimai.
Speaking at the event, Rajeshwor, the author, stated that the book was published after gathering important informations related to Manipur from the National Archives in New Delhi.
Saying that there are about 7000 files related to Manipur at the National Archives, he added that there was, however, not a single book on the subject even though they have been digitised.
As a result, he decided to publish this book.
The author stated that the book will be helpful to researchers and the younger generation in learning an important chapter of Manipur's history.
Further, Rajeshwor stated that the book, based on documents available at the National Archives, is not meant to challenge any community. But history, however, cannot be altered, he added.
He also said that communal harmony would prevail if all communities understand the historical facts of Manipur.
The function was graced by RK Nimai as chief guest,  former Dean, School of Human and Environmental Sciences, Manipur University Professor W Nabakumar as president and Assistant Professor Dr Malem Ningthouja of Department of History, DMU, Assistant Professor Dr Oinam Daniel, Department of History, Oriental College and Assistant Professor Dr Michael Samjetsabam  of Department of Philosophy, DMU as guests of honour.
