109 Bn CRPF launches football tournament in Senapati

Senapati, Dec 28 : 109 Bn CRPF today launched an open football tournament at Astro Turf Ground in Senapati under the aegis of Manipur and Nagaland Sector, CRPF, and in partnership with the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
The tournament organised in collaboration with Senapati District Olympic Association Manipur (SDOAM) was opened in the presence of Col Dahiya Hari Om, 59 Mountain Brigade as the chief guest.
 Altogether 16 teams are taking part in the tournament that will run till December 30.
In his speech, Col Dahiya Hari Om lauded the CRPF for their dual role in maintaining security and nurturing local talent.
He also emphasized that sports serve as the ultimate bridge for peace, urging the players to play with integrity and "the spirit of true sportsmanship."
He said Khelo India is a great initiative by the central government inorder to build and nurture the sports talent from a very young age.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by a host of distinguished guests, including  L Pfokrehrii Nelina GS SDOAM; K Joshua AGS Senapati District Student Association; Raile Paul (OC B/109 Bn, CRPF), rank and files of CRPF, public leaders, SDOAM members, public and others.
