Bird traps seized, sale of "wild meat" checked

Thoubal, Dec 6: In continuation of the Forest Department's efforts to protect wildlife, a team of Kakching Forest Range seized bird traps during a drive carried out early this morning.
The drive was conducted in wetland areas under Kakching Forest Range under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Forest Division.
Additionally, the team also checked the sale of "wild meat" at Tuishimi, Aimol and Khangshim Bazar in Pallel area.
Under the aegis of Thoubal DFO Dr L Jeeceelee, the team was led by Kakching Forest Range Range Officer Huidrom Sundar and Pallel Beat Office Beat Officer Nameirakpam Bikramjit and accompanied by staff from Kakching Range and Pallel Beat Office.
The team seized three bird traps from  Lousipat Khongjao.
From Komnao, Pumlen Pat and Arong Nongmaikhong wetland area, Waikhong Beat Office and Wangoo Lamkhai Beat Office staff seized two bird traps today.
Meanwhile, checks on illegal transportation and wild bird hunting were carried out yesterday led by RO Huidrom Sundar  and staff of Kakching Range and Pallel Beat Office.
