YPHU, SGH victorious in 3rd Premier League

IMPHAL, Dec 6 : Young Physiques Union (YPHU), Lalambung and Sang-gai Heroes (SGH) emerged victorious in today’s matches of the ongoing 3rd Premier League at SSC ground in Sekta.
In the 82nd match of the 15-team tournament, YPHU thumped IYFC 3-0 for the 5th win in 11 matches courtesy of three first half goals.
YPHU who played out a goalless draw with RAU, Lairikyengbam Leikai, raced to the lead within 6 minutes as Laishram Suraj made the most of an early chance before Naoshekpam Malemnganba doubled the advantage in the 14th minute.
YPHU continued to press hard despite the comfortable lead and found their third goal through Thokchom Robertson in the 34th minute.
YPHU concentrated more in keeping their citadel in the second half while looking for inroads occasionally. IYFC too shore up their defence to deny further chances in the scoreline in the remainder of the game.
Later in the day, Asheibam Shrinivas scored a brace to guide SGH a 4-0 win over Athletic Brother’s Association (ABA), Kshetrigao.
Shrinivas scored back to back in the 4th and the 26th minute to give SGH a flourishing start before Konthoujam Bobosana joined the party to make it 3-0 after 30 minutes. Konthoujam Donel who subbed in for Thiyam Robertson after the break, meanwhile fired home the final nail to the coffin in the 54th minute. It was SGH’s 4th win in as many as 11 games.
