IMPHAL, Dec 7: Maisnam Shakhi Devi, National vice president of the National Federation of Indian Women has written to President Droupadi Murmu to release a postage stamp commemorating the Nupi Lan on its 86th anniversary.
In a memorandum dispatched to the President on December 6, 2025, Maisnam Shakhi pointed out that the Nupi Lan of 1939 is a very significant historical event.
In view of its historical significance, a postage stamp on Nupi Lan may be released so that the whole world knows about it, the memorandum said.
Welcoming the scheduled visit of President Droupadi Murmu, Shakhi also demanded inclusion of Nupi Lan in the National syllabus.
Highlighting that women and children are the worst affected sections of the violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023, Shakhi urged the President to take concrete actions in order to protect displaced people taking refuge in relief camps and resolve the crisis at the earliest.
