IMPHAL, Dec 7 : The third day of the 2nd DGAR Polo Championships saw Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club, ESC Polo Club Team-A, MPSC Team-C advance to pre-quarterfinals with decisive first Round of 32 victories at Mapal Kangjeibung.
Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club outlasted New Vision Polo Club by 9-2 goals in the first match today as O Paikhomba and S Saolin ran riot.
O Paikhomba scored four goals alone, two each in the first two chukkers to help Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club enjoy a 2-0 first chukker lead and a 5-0 lead after two chukkers with his compatriot K Victor adding one.
S Saolin struck his first in the third chukker against L Lickson’s solo for New Vision Polo Club to make it 6-1 after three chukkers before he added twice in the final chukker and his teammate K Swarnakumar chipped in one to make the final scoreline read 9-2.
Th Bobby was able to score the second goal for Vision Polo Club in the fifth minute of the final chukker.
In the second ground, ESC Polo Club Team-A knocked out Kakching District Polo Association by 9-1 goals riding on W Johny’s four goal feat.
A Lamyanba also scored twice for ESC Polo Club Team-A as L Thomson, S Dollar and K Samananda scored a goal apiece.
The consolation goal for the Kakching side was scored by H Devdutta in the final minute of the final chukker.
Later in the third match of the day, MPSC Team-C notched up a 5-0 win over K&MM Riding School Team-A as M Devanath scored thrice, one apiece in the second, third and fourth chukkers after Ksh Dinesh and Arun scored a goal apiece in the second chukker.
