Veteran Cricket : CHAMP beat RNEF by 5 runs

IMPHAL, Dec 8 : CHAMP, Khagempalli posted a 5-run win over RNEF, Mayang Imphal in a keenly contested Group D match of the ongoing 22nd Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament at Langthabal Public Ground today.
CHAMP were dismissed for a paltry total of 110 runs within 25.1 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first.
RNEF however slumped to 105 all out within 24.2 overs  as CHAMP redeemed themselves with impeccable bowling performances from Uttam (3/18), Umakanta (3/28), and John (2/10).
Earlier in the first innings, Umakanta 17, Uttam 12, Rocket 12, Naresh 10, and John 10 managed double digit scores as Raju (3/12), Dinesh (2/20), Jagu (2/15) led the bowling attack for RNEF by sharing 7 wickets among them.
Meanwhile, David 20, Dhaneshwor 15, and Romio 14 were able to score double digit scores for RNEF in the chase.
Uttam of CHAMP who added 12 runs and picked three wickets was adjudged player of the match.
NAPSA, Kha Imphal will play YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel in the next match tomorrow.
