2nd DGAR Polo Championships Chingkheihunba PC, Arvind PC, Luwangpokpa PC progress into Round of 16

IMPHAL, Dec 8 : Chingkheihunba PC, Arvind PC, and Luwangpokpa PC progressed into men’s Round of 16 in the 2nd DGAR Polo Championships being hosted by the Assam Rifles in collaboration with the All Manipur Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the first match of the day, Chingkheihunba PC edged out Thoubal District Polo Association (TDPA) by 6-4 goals to set up a pre-quarterfinal date with MPSC Team-C.
T Leishemba starred with a treble in the match to help Chingkheihunba PC post a 6-4 comeback win after conceding the first chukker 2-3.
M Anildash, Th Pamheiba and S Prahlada scored to give the Thoubal side a 3-2 lead in the first chukker as only Th Manisana and M Bhupendrajit found the target for Chingkheihunba PC.
Neither team were on target in the second chukker before M Anildash scored his second and TDPA’s final in the third chukker that saw T Leishemba score all his three goals to overturn the lead.
A Basanta then scored the final goal for the winners in the 3rd minute of the final chukker.
In the second match, Arvind Polo Club (Iroisemba) pulled off an 8-2 win over Nambul Mapal Polo Club Team-B riding on leading performances from K Bonison (2 goals) and AK Ibomcha (3 goals).
A Kishan, L Rohit and L Prabin also found the target for Arvind Polo Club in this match as L Tarun and Th Bhagat registered a goal apiece respectively in the 1st and the 2nd chukkers for the losing side.
In the third match, Luwangpokpa PC defeated AR Polo Team-B by 6-2 goals as N Barun and K Jogendra scored two goals apiece.
K Maheshkumar and Th Ranjan also struck a goal apiece for the winners as J Vasha and Th Premananda added one goal apiece for the AR Polo Team B.
With the win, Luwangpokpa PC set up a pre-quarterfinal date with Arvind Polo Club.
