IMPHAL, Dec 8 : In the era of Digital India, five villages in Tamei sub-division, Ta-menglong have been without electricity due to a blackout spanning many days.
The affected villages are Old Lemta, New Lemta, Nallong-1, Nallong-2, and Maguinong village, according to a press release issued by Humaliabou, former Chairman, ADC Tameng-long.
The former ADC Chairman has urged the department concerned to address the issue sincerely as the five villages continue to live in the dark ages with no electricity even as the Nation boasts of ultra-fast internet, smart cities, and digital payments.
"Residents of these villages are currently enjoying an exclusive, power-free retreat courtesy of an unannounced blackout spanning days - a rare luxury in these times of constant connectivity. Smartphones, laptops, and other digital marvels have been forced into a well-deserved rest, giving people a chance to reconnect with the ancient art of torchlight storytelling and candlelit dinners. Who needs Wi-Fi when you can have fireside chats instead?", it quipped. Demanding action on a more serious note, it asserted that these villagers are indigenous people of India and their voices deserve to be heard.
