IMPHAL, Dec 31 : The Lamp Lighting and Oath-Taking Ceremony of the 1st batch BSc nursing students of BABINA Institute of Nursing was held today at Classic Grande, Chingmeirong.
The ceremony marked the formal induction of the inaugural batch into the nursing profession and a significant milestone in the academic journey of the institute.
The ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including Prof N Rajmuhon Singh, former Vice Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University; H Chandrashakhi Chanu, Nursing Superintendent, District Hospital, Thoubal; Dr Thangjam Dhabali Singh, Chairman & Managing Director, BABINA Group of Companies; and Dr Thoudam Kheroda Devi, Principal, BABINA Institute of Nursing.
As per a release issued by BABINA Hospital, a total of 38 BSc Nursing students, both male and female, participated in the lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony, pledging to uphold the values of ethical practice, compassion, and professional responsibility in healthcare.
The programme also included an award distribution segment recognising meritorious students for their academic performance and commitment during the course
Addressing the gathering, Dr Th Dhabali said the ceremony signified the beginning of a new standard in healthcare education.
Referring to Florence Nightingale, he said the oath represented a legacy of service, discipline, and empathy that continues to guide the nursing profession across the world.
“Our goal is to transform Manipur into a hub for skilled healthcare professionals. By integrating high-level infrastructure with the core values of nurturing care and inspiring growth, we are preparing our 38 students to meet the challenges of modern medicine with both competence and compassion”, he added.
He stated that the BABINA Institute of Nursing, established in 2025, was founded with the objective of bridging local talent with national and international healthcare needs.
He mentioned that the institute has prioritised quality infrastructure, academic facilities, and a dedicated team of teaching and non-teaching staff to provide a strong foundation for nursing education.
Highlighting the role of nurses in the healthcare system, Dr Th Dhaball said hospitals cannot function without their services and stressed that beyond clinical knowledge, empathy and effective communication are essential in patient care.
He encouraged students to continuously strengthen their skills and pursue specialised training to access wider professional opportunities while contributing to the growth of the region.
Furthermore, Dr Th Dhabali expressed gratitude to the parents for entrusting the institute with their children's future and reaffirmed the institute's commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and academic integrity.
