EYOL passes resolutions

IMPHAL, Jan 10: A public gathering titled "Andro Meepham" was held today at Pureiromba Sanglen, Andro to discuss the practices and customs involved in pertinent ceremonial rituals from one's birth till death (rites of passage).
As per a press note issued by Enat Yokkhatpa Luptin, Manipur (EYOL), the gathering passed the following four resolutions; i) restrict the introduction of "inappropriate practices" in traditional rituals, ii) avoid excessive expenditures in weddings, iii) stop engaging in "cake cutting, exchange of rings, overpriced photo sessions, etc" on Heijingpot day. Use traditional garments in such ceremonies and ensure the usage of locally produced items and iv) avoid "sel thaba" competition and "bhabok mamai taba" custom in these traditional events.
The Andro Meepham was attended by Longjamcha Sanathoi, vice-president, EYOL as the chief guest; Ch Chandra Meitei, Chief, Andro as the functional president and Ph Gopendra Singh, president, AAYCA; Ph Maimu Meitei, Luklaba Adro Pana Laishang; S Chandani Devi, secretary, AAMPA; Y Leirangton Devi, president, AMLA; H Marjit Singh, president, ESCSVA; A Mukta Singh, president, AAGEA; Y Kiran Singh, secretary, ESCSUA among others as dias members.
