Sit-in protest held

IMPHAL, Jan 11 : Tension and fear gripped the residents of Khagempalli after a man, who was arrested on the charge of stabbing his wife to death, was reportedly seen roaming freely at the locality. The accused, Heikrujam Bijoy (57), a resident of Khagempalli Pankha, was arrested for the alleged murder of his wife, H Pishakmacha (55), on June 3, 2024.
A case was registered against him at Singjamei Police Station.  In response to this development, a sit-in protest was staged today near Nganapithong at Khagempalli Pankha, urging the authorities to take immediate action. Speaking to the media, the protesters expressed their concerns, stating that the presence of the accused in the area has instilled a sense of fear and insecurity among the residents. They called on the authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure their safety.
During the protest, placards with slogans such as "Penalise the murderer" and "Submit the chargesheet against the accused" were displayed. The demonstration was organized by the Khagempalli Ideal Club and Sundrembi Nupi Lup.
