IMPHAL, Jan 11 : The Socialist Students' Union of Manipur (SSUM) has urged the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) to ensure the paper quality used for printing textbooks and answer scripts for the 2026 academic year meets the criteria set by the Board.
In a statement, SSUM highlighted that a tender committee formed by BOSEM had approved a firm to supply papers for printing textbooks and answer scripts, specifying 70 GSM (DC) for textbooks and 80 GSM (DC) for answer scripts.
However, the supply of paper was halted after certain firms filed a Court case, SSUM said and added that BOSEM subsequently took possession of the papers previously supplied by the approved firm.
BOSEM permitted another firm to supply papers, but the quality of the papers did not meet the criteria set by the Board, the Union said and questioned whether certain individuals are acting in their personal interests regarding the papers for textbooks.
SSUM urged BOSEM to blacklist any firm that supplies substandard papers not meeting the required quality standards.
