Oil pump attack suspect pulled up

IMPHAL, Jan 12: A man allegedly involved in hurling and setting off a hand grenade at an oil pump at Moirang on January 8 evening has been arrested by security forces.
Acting on specific information about the presence of some members of a banned underground outfit at Komnao Makha Leikai and its adjoining areas in Kakching district, a combined team of Kakching commando unit and a column of 46 Assam Rifles rushed to the spot and arrested one active cadre of KYKL from Komnao Makha Leikai under Waikhong police station at around 4 pm on January 11, 2026.
The arrested person has been identified as Hijam Manichandra Singh (35) s/o (L) H Panchamani Singh of Waikhong Chingdong Leikai.
On preliminary investigation, Manichandra disclosed that he was earlier arrested as a member of KCP (Taibangangba group).
After coming out of bail, he joined KYKL in November 2025 through one Inaobi of Wangoo Maning Sabal.
Manichandra  further disclosed that he was physically involved in hurling a grenade at M/S Elidas Fuel Station at Moirang Thana Leikai, Bishnupur district on January 8, 2026 night along with Inaobi of Wangoo
The arrested person has been handed over to Waikhong police station for investigation and necessary legal procedure, said sources.
