Athouba and Telheiba make 1-3 podium finish at Senior Triathlon Nationals

IMPHAL, Jan 12 : Sarungbam Athouba and Soram Telheiba made Manipur proud at the Senior National Triathlon Championship being underway in Chennai under the auspices of the Triathlon Federation of India as they made 1-3 podium finish.
Athouba, who won two gold medals in the 38th National Games hosted by Uttarakhand last year, took 2 hours, 2 minutes and 31 seconds to win the top honour yesterday while Telheiba, who was the silver medallist in the 38th National Games Triathlon event, settled for the third place in 2 hours 3 minutes and 14 seconds.
Athouba is currently pursuing Bachelor of Physical Education at National Sports University, Khuman Lampak. He hails from Chingmathak Pishum Leirak and is the son of Sarungbam Jiten and Sarungbam Pritam Leima.
Athouba has been a leading triathlete from Manipur, who had also won a gold medal at the South Asian Triathlon Championships 2025 held in Pokhara, Nepal.
He also represented India at the World Triatlon Development Regional Cup-2025 and the South Asian Youth Championships-2025.
Soram Telheiba, who had also won many medals in sub-junior and junior National championships, is the son of Soram Raja and Soram ongbi Thoicha of Bamon Leikai Mange Makhong (Brahmapur Lalji Lakpa Leikai).
