39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament Black Watch PC-A, AR Polo Team-A, MPSC-A advance to quarterfinals

IMPHAL, Jan 13 : Black Watch PC-A, AR Polo Team-A, and MPSC-A registered pre-quarterfinal victories to sail into the quarterfinals of the ongoing 39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the first pre-quarterfinal match of the day, Black Watch PC-A notched up a 9-2 win over K&MM RS-B and reached the quarterfinal where they will play the winners between Khurai PC or MPSC-B.
Black Watch Polo Club-A, who outlasted UPC-A 10-1 in the first round, had a prolific start and raced to a 4-1 lead till halfway mark as M Chaoba and star of the match Kh Rivaldo scored a goal apiece in the first chukker and Kh Yaikhomba and Th Nongpoknganba found a goal each in the second chukker after N Rohit scored 10 seconds into chukker for K&MM RS-A.
Kh Rivaldo then completed his treble in the third chukker while M Chaoba and Th Nongpoknganba added one goal apiece to earn Black Watch PC-A a 8-1 lead.
Alex then took honour to score the final goal for the winners 27 seconds into the fourth chukker before Kh Rocky scored the second and final goal in the 4th minute.
In the second match of the day, AR Polo Team-A trounced Ibudhou Marjing Polo Club 13-1 riding on S Bon Bon’s exemplary scoring performance and significant contributions from L Joykumar and M Kuber.
Ibudhou Marjing Polo Club found their only goal 2 minute into the first chukker but S Bonbon drew level in the fourth minute to make it 1-1 before scoring twice in the second chukker to make it 3-1.
Kh Chandrakumar also scored one in the closing minute of the second chukker to further extend the lead to 4-1.
The third chukker saw L Joykumar scoring all of his three goals for AR Polo Team-A as Bonbon and M Kuber chipped in one goal apiece to make it 9-1.
In the final chukker Bonbon and M Kumber scored two goals apiece to wind up the game 13-1.
They will either play Chingkheihunba PC or ESC-A in the quarterfinals.
Later in the day, S Bimol ran riot to score 7 goals to fashion MPSC-A a 9-6 win over Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club and set up a quarterfinal date with AR Polo Team-B, who outlasted Black Watch PC-B 9-1 yesterday in a pre-quarterfinal match.
Bimol scored twice to help MPSC-A come to level terms in the first chukker with Thangmeiband Youth Polo Club whose K Victory scored in the 2nd and the 5th minutes.
MPSC-A however raced to a 7-2 lead in the second chukker with Bimol scoring four more goals and O Suresh scoring one.
S Abungcha scored one in the third chukker for MPSC-A while O Paikhomba and S Saolin scored one goal each for Thangmeiband Youth PC to make it 4-8.
In the final chukker, S Bimol scored his final goal as S Saolin scored twice to complete his treble and make the final scoreline read 6-9.
