Former rebel leader and Peace Committee Kanglei-pak Manipur advisor Ning- themcha Sanayaima alias RK Meghen has highlighted the challenges faced by people living in red zone areas and urged the Government to address their grievances.
He made the remark while visiting the two persons who were wounded in the Saiton serial blasts on January 5, 2026 at their residences to extend monetary aid.
The aid was sponsored by Peace Committee Kang-leipak, Manipur and Tham- napokpi Nupi Yaipha Marup, Moirang. RK Meghen visited Nongthombam Indubala (38) and Soibam Sanatomba (52) at their respective homes in Saiton Hayaikon Maning Leikai and Saiton Maning Leikai Ward No 2.
Speaking to the media, RK Meghen said the two individuals have not recovered completely from their injuries. Hence, the aid initiative was organised to provide assistance.
Addressing the life of people in red zone areas, he said they continue to face various hardships and lead insecure and vulnerable lives unable to depend on farming activities or growing vegetables as a means of livelihood. The residents are anxious about being "attacked by enemies" when they venture out for such activities, he said.
Yesterday, he visited a few red zone areas in Imphal East and interacted with the residents.
He maintained that their lives have not improved. The same state of affairs can be seen in Saiton and some other areas of Bishnupur district, he added.
Stating that the assistance provided by the Government to the people in red zone areas is not enough to meet their needs, he urged the authorities to boost their efforts.
Rajesh Meitei, president, Peace Committee Kangleipak, Manipur; Shanti Leima, president, Thamnapokpi Nupi Yaipha Marup, Moirang; secretary Bina and other members were present at today's aid initiative.
