Charge sheet submitted

IMPHAL, Jan 17 : The Central Bureau of Inves-tigation (CBI) Anti-Corrup- tion Branch (ACB) Imphal has submitted a charge sheet against Irom Bishorjit, a Senior Accounts Officer in the Principal Accountant (A&E) GOE Section, Imphal, for allegedly accepting a bribe for the processing of a MACP file from a staff member of the Forensic Science Laboratory, Pangei.
The charge sheet was filed before the Special Judge (PC), Imphal West by the Deputy Superintendent of CBI (ACB) following the completion of the investigation.
It seeks to take cognizance of the matter under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused, Bishorjit (54), s/o Bhimo, a resident of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai.
The Court, after reviewing the charge sheet, noted that the required prosecution sanction against the accused had not been submitted.
As a result, the Court registered a criminal miscella- neous case and scheduled the next proceedings on February 16, 2026, or earlier if the prosecution sanction is received.
It is worth mentioning that on November 18, 2025, CBI (ACB) Imphal arrested the accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for processing the MACP file of the Forensic Science Laboratory staff.
The CBI team had set up a trap to catch the officer in the act.
Following the arrest, the team conducted searches at his office and residence at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, Imphal West.
