After its establishment in 2018, Dhanamanjuri University held its first convocation today.
Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla graced the convocation ceremony where Dr Puneet Kumar Goel, Chief Secretary; Dr Vineet Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Education, Government of India and Prof W Chandbabu, Vice-Chancellor, Dhanamanjuri University were also present.
The Governor formally declared the convocation open and conferred degrees upon Undergraduate and Post-Graduate students from various streams for the academic years 2020 to 2024.
Addressing the convocation ceremony, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla said that the first convocation of Dhanamanjuri University, held eight years after its establishment, marked a sig- nificant milestone in the institution’s growth.
He expressed satisfaction over the large physical participation of graduating students and observed that a convocation was not merely an academic ritual but a celebration of perseverance, learning, and achievement, made meaningful by the sacrifices and support of families.
He said that the graduates would henceforth serve as ambassadors of the university and urged them to uphold its values through their conduct, competence, and character wherever they go.
The Governor further said that the university had made notable progress in recent years, particularly in infrastructure development, quality of academic delivery, graduation outcomes, and institutional governance, reflecting a positive direction.
Emphasising the wider role of universities in a rapidly changing world, he stated that institutions must equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with adaptability, ethical judgement, and a spirit of lifelong learning, while remaining rooted in the cultural and social context of Manipur.
Reiterating the Government of Manipur’s keen interest in developing Dhanamanjuri University into a strong and vibrant centre of higher learning, he encouraged the graduating students to serve society and the Nation with integrity and dedication, and conveyed his best wishes in their future endeavours.
The convocation ceremony was attended by the Registrar, Deans, faculty members and other officials of the university, graduating students and their parents, senior Government officials, members of the academic fraternity, and other distinguished guests.
