Police arrest one, seize over 16 kilograms of opium

IMPHAL, Jan 17: Police arrested a person and seized over 16 kilograms of opium in Churachandpur today.
The arrested individual has been identified as Nang Lian Siam of ZMA Road, Venguam, Churachandpur.
Siam was arrested along the Tiddim Road at Beihang under Singngat police station.
The police seized 16.6 kilograms of opium from Siam.
Meanwhile, security forces have so far destroyed 306 acres of illicit poppy plantations at various locations under Saikul police station, Kangpokpi, from January 12 to 17.
During the period, the security forces destroyed 43 temporary huts, equipment and materials including pesticides and herbicides, said the police.
