COCOMI elects new office bearers

IMPHAL, Jan 18: The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) held its second general body meeting and elected a batch of new office bearers with YK Dhiren as the new convenor.
Speaking to media persons at their Lamphelpat office this afternoon after the general body meeting, outgoing convenor Khuraijam Athouba said that 15 sub-committees have been formed for the term 2026-27.
Moreover, 30 executive members of these sub-committees have been elected, Athouba said.
The general body meeting participated by 183 members and members of COCOMI branches/units approved the annual report as well as the account statement.
Khuraijam Athouba said that he would continue to work for COCOMI and Manipur even though he is no longer holding any post of COCOMI.
He also conveyed gratitude to COCOMI office bearers and the people for their support during his term as the COCOMI convenor.  
Newly elected convenor YK Dhiren said that he will work relentlessly to strengthen the idea of Manipur and build a strong Manipuri Nation.
The violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023 is not over yet and everybody knows who is behind this crisis, he said.
Dhiren said that the foremost task at the moment is restoring peace and normalcy in the State. He said that the Government’s response to the month-long agitation of IDPs in December 2025 was not satisfactory. The newly elected COCOMI convenor asserted that the Government of India must stop oppressing the indigenous people by using Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists as its proxy.   He also appealed to all sections of people to join and support the mega mass rally scheduled for January 31, 2026 against the Government of India’s ‘proxy war’. He called upon all the communities to work collectively toward restoring peace and normalcy in the State. He appealed to all communities to strengthen the idea of Manipur and work collectively towards building a strong Manipuri Nation.
