AMPA warns players, orgs against organising unauthorised championships

IMPHAL, Jan 18: The All Manipur Powerlifting Association has issued a strong warning that no private sectors, gyms, clubs and individual firms shall conduct any powerlifting championship without written approval of the State association.
Powerlifting is a recognised sports discipline governed and administered by the State Powerlifting Association, which is duly registered under the Registrar of Societies. Therefore, no gyms, private organisation or individual has the authority to conduct powerlifting championship or include it as an event in any championship without prior written permission from the State association, it said.
Further, any powerlifting event conducted without the engagement of duly authorised State/National referees and officials nominated by the association shall be treated as unauthorised and invalid, it added.
Players including, international, National, State medallists as well as newly registered lifters, who are found participating in any unauthorised powerlifting championship organised by private gyms or individuals shall be debarred from participating in any future State or National level championships conducted under the association, it said.
