IMPHAL, Jan 19: The proscribed KCP has alleged that Dr G Sunil Kumar Sharma is not fit for the post of RIMS Director.
Medical students of RIMS  have brought back the issue of the RIMS Director allegedly using highly uncouth and abusive words against his own students in May 2025, said a press release issued by KCP, Secretary of Information and Public Relations, M Punsiba Meitei.
A letter titled ‘Appeal for Justice’ shared by the aggrieved students gives a detailed account of how the issue unfolded.
Some people who claimed to be from a students union  who pretended to be supporting the medical students’ protest only betrayed the medical students at the end, according to the letter.
The letter further revealed that some other people who claimed to be members of an underground group threatened the aggrieved medical students to withdraw their protest, the outfit said.
Even though the protest was withdrawn a long time back, many medical students who joined the protest in the forefront are still facing different forms of harassment, it said.
It said that KCP will take up appropriate actions against Dr G Sunil Kumar Sharma as well those people who claimed to be representing a students’ union but stood against the aggrieved medical students.
It is quite strange that no Government agency has bothered to take up any suo moto action even though there is audio-visual proof of how Dr G Sunil Kumar allegedly used highly offensive and scandalous words against the medical students, the outfit remarked.
The outfit alleged that the conduct of Dr G Sunil Kumar Sharma went against the ethos of Manipur/Meitei community as well as medical ethics.
By using high offensive and scandalous words against his own students, Dr Sunil Kumar only exposed that he is not fit for the post of RIMS Director, it alleged.
It then asked Dr G Sunil Kumar to step down from the post of RIMS Director at the earliest.
It said that the medical students of RIMS are being facilitated to file a writ petition before the Supreme Court in connection with the particular issue.
