39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament X-Polo Club to square off against AR Polo Team-A in final showdown

IMPHAL, Jan 19 : X-Polo Club will lock horns with AR Polo Team-A in the title clash of the 39th Men’s State Level Polo Tournament organised by the All Manipur Polo Association following their semi-final victories today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the first semi-final match of the tournament staged this afternoon, AR Polo Team-A pulled off a 7-3 win over MPSC-B to book their final berth.
S Bon Bon was instrumental in AR Polo Team-A’s victory today as he slammed home 4 goals including three in the second chukker after opening the team’s account in the first chukker.
The team entered the second chukker 1-1 as Bon Bon found the lead in the 6th minute before T Roshan scored the equaliser for MPSC-B in the following minute.
Bon Bon struck his second 51 seconds into the second chukker before T Pradeepkumar responded with the equaliser for MPSC-B in the 5th minute. The parity however ended soon as Kh Shusilo scored one 41 seconds past 6 minutes to make it 3-2 before S Bon Bon hammered home two back to back goals (6’58’’, 7’15’’) to further extend the lead to 5-2.
The third chukker saw Kh Chandrakumar scoring one (1’10’’) for the AR Polo Team to make it 6-2 before Abung Khuman pulled one goal back for MPSC-B in the third minute. Chandrakumar added his second in the second minute (1’32’’ ) of the final chukker to make the final scoreline read 7-3.
Later in the second semi-final match, X-Polo Club outplayed MPSC-A 11-3 as Th Jacob owned the pitch.
Th Jacob produced an outstanding horse-riding and scoring skill to contribute 6 goals alone and set up the team’s strong comeback after they team trailed 0-2 in the first chukker with S Bimol scoring twice for MPSC-A in the first chukker.
P Ojit (2’1’’), L Atangba (6’12’’), and Th Jacob (6’58’’) took their turns in the second chukker to overturn the lead in favour of X-Polo Club before Th Jacob scored four goals and Th Santohs and L Atangba chipped in a goal apiece to make it 9-2 after three chukkers.
Th Jacob completed his haul of 6 goals in the fourth minute of the final chukker before Th Santosh scored his second and team’s final in the 6th minute. S Bimol scored his third and final goal for MPSC-A in the 7th minute (6’1’’) of the final chukker.
The final match is slated for January 21.
