Statehood Day greetings pour in

IMPHAL, Jan 20 : Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Speaker of Manipur Legislative Speaker  Th Satyabrata conveyed their greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Manipur Statehood Day, 2026.
The Governor, in his message, said that the historic day, commemorating 21st January 1972, marks the emergence of Manipur as  a full fledged State of the Indian Union and stands as a proud milestone  in 'our collective journey' of democratic governance, cultural identity and progress.
Manipur is blessed  with a rich heritage, vibrant traditions and a resilient people whose contributions in the field of art, sports, culture and public service have brought laurels to the Nation, he said and appealed to one and all to reaffirm their pledge to peace, unity and inclusive growth.
"May the spirit of this day guide us to nurture harmony across communities and shape a future of stability, prosperity and dignity for  every citizen," he prayed.
Satyabrata, while extending his greetings, appealed to the people to work together for a stronger and brighter Manipur.
"Together, let us strive for peace, harmony and prosperity, while preserving our rich heritage and embracing innovation for the future," he urged.
Former Speaker Ireng-bam Hemochandra Singh has also extended best wishes to the people of Ma-nipur.   As Meghalaya and Tripura also became full-fledged States on January 21, 1972 along with Manipur under the North Eastern Region (Re-organisation) Act of 1972, he urged everyone to celebrate their common rich culture and traditions.
"May harmony prevail and we continue to grow together and forge a strong and resilient North East", he said in a post on "X".
