Granted SC status

IMPHAL, Jan 20 : Several clans (sagei) residing at three villages in Mayang Imphal Assembly Constituency have been granted Scheduled Caste (SC) status.
It is reported that a total of 12 clans in Hayel, 17 clans in Hangoon, and 14 clans in Phoubakchao have officially received the SC status.
In this regard, Mayang Imphal AC MLA K Robindro distributed SC certificates to the families of the 12 clans viz Thoudam, Sagolshem, Khwairakpam, Thokchom, Thongam, Kei-sham, Kshetrimayum, Mei- nam, Mayanglambam, Yum-lembam, Khumanthem and Mayengbam residing at Hayel Village, today.
Addressing a function held at Hayel Community Hall, the MLA stated that these families will now be entitled to the various benefits provided by the Government to Scheduled Castes.
Urging the people who have been granted SC status to make use of the benefits to improve their living conditions, he said that he will extend all possible assistance to them.
Robindro also said that he has been working to implement various welfare programmes for the minority Muslim community in his Constituency.
Wangoi AC MLA Kh Loken also attended the programme.
