KANGPOKPI, Jan 20: The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR), Kangpokpi district, has issued a statement condemning the alleged sexual violence inflicted upon a woman, whose life was cut short after enduring unimaginable trauma for over two years.
The Kuki woman was subjected to alleged violence at the age of 18. “Rape is not about sex. It is not about a woman’s honour. It is about power, brutality, and the systematic dehumanisation of women,” KWOHR said.
The organisation paid tribute to the woman's extraordinary courage and resilience, noting that she allegedly bore severe physical, mental, and emotional trauma for more than two years before her death on January 10, 2026.
KWOHR sharply criticised "institutional failure of the justice system that allowed her case to languish unresolved until her final breath."
