Police file case against Khurai AC MLA

IMPHAL, Jan 20: Porompat Police have filed a case against Khurai Constituency MLA Leishangthem Susin-dro Meitei for vandalizing an under-construction structure of Khurai Heigru-makhong Junior High School.
According to reliable sources, a team led by the MLA carried out the act of vandalism using heavy machinery on January 18, around 2 pm.
The sources added that the MLA also intimidated engineers and workers present at the construction site.
The construction work was being carried out by ATW (India) Private Limited, a company based in Dibrugarh, Assam.
The case was registered by Porompat Police on January 19, following a complaint lodged by the site manager of the construction company and the local club of Khurai Heigrumakhong Konsam Leikai, requesting an investigation into the incident.
The FIR submitted to the police described the vandalism as a waste of taxpayer money and called for a thorough investigation.
So far, no arrests have been made.
Reports indicate that the construction of Khurai Heigrumakhong Junior High School is part of the North East States Infrastructure Development Scheme.
Locals from Khurai Heigrumakhong have condemned the MLA’s actions, calling them destructive and irresponsible.
