U-19 State Level Women’s Football Tournament commences

IMPHAL, Jan 28 : The U-19 State Level Women’s Football Tournament conducted by 165 Ifn Bn (TA) (H&H), Assam under Op Sadbhavana for the year 2025-26 kicked off today at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, Imphal.
The tournament is organised under the aegis of HQ IGAR (S), said a press release issued by 165 Ifn Bn (TA) (H&H), Assam.
The inaugural function of the tournament participated by 10 teams was attended by DB Konwar, president All Manipur Football Association (AMFA), it said.
The tournament is designed to advance women’s participation in football at both grassroots and competitive level. It provides a structured platform for showcasing talent, facilitating skill enhancement and promoting gender equality and inclusivity within the realm of sports, it said.
The opening match of the tournament organised in collaboration with AMFA saw FC Imphal beat Youth Welfare Club, Thambalkhong (YWC-Th) 1-0 courtesy of Phanjoubam Abema Devi’s 17th minute strike.
Later in the second match, Young Welfare Club, Thambalkhong (YWC-L) overwhelmed Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Palace Compound by 6-0 goals.
Sorokhaibam Silky Devi (14', 25') and Loukrakpam Seityamala Devi (22', 45') banged home two goals apiece for YWC-L in the first half to earn a 4-0 lead before Laishram Purnimaluxmi Devi (83') and Yumnam Laxmi Devi (90') managed two goals in the late stage to seal the 6-0 victory.
The tournament will run till February 15.
