Grenade found near ITI Lilong

IMPHAL, Jan 2: A hand grenade was found near the main entrance gate of Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Lilong at Chaobok Mairenkhun this morning.
Notably, two companies of BSF are currently stationed within the ITI Lilong premises.
BSF personnel reported that the suspected explosive article was noticed at about 7.30 am today.
Security agencies suspect that unidentified miscreants might have hurled the hand grenade with an intention of endangering the lives and properties of BSF personnel stationed within the ITI premises. Meanwhile, Lilong police station has registered a suo moto case under the Explosive Substances Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Following the discovery of the hand grenade, security has been tightened in and around the area.
