Stray bullet hits minor boy

IMPHAL, Jan 2 : A stray bullet hit a minor boy of one year at around 4.30 pm on January 1, 2026 at Naorem-thong Khullem Leikai, Imphal West.
Sources said that the child was in a bed when a stray bullet fired by an unknown person pierced through the tin roof and hit him on the head.
The boy’s parents Elangbam Thoiba and Elangbam (ongbi) Lakhirani of Jiribam Lamdai Khunou, staying at Naoremthong Khullem Leikai at present, said they heard the boy crying loudly and suddenly at around 4.30 pm yesterday.
As they rushed in, they found the child with a bullet injury on his head.
Immediately, they took the child to RIMS. After receiving some treatment at RIMS, the child was taken to Little Clinic.
The projectile was removed successfully after a surgical operation was carried out at Little Clinic.
While the minor boy is being kept under observation, a case has been registered at Lamphel police station in connection with the incident.
