IMPHAL, Jan 2 : For the first time in the entire North East, Mumbai based Serpents of Pakhangba will be performing at Imphal on January 3, 2026.
The shamanic and folk metal band named after Pakhangba of Meitei mythology will perform at The Venue by Elle’s, Luwangshangbam together with other bands.
The concert is being organised by Extreme Entertainment, Imphal.
Speaking to media persons at Hotel Imolesh here today, Serpents of Pakhangba vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Vishal J Singh said that they feel elated and fortunate on getting an opportunity to perform at Imphal for the first time.
He said that their music score and sound are drawn from the ancient roots of the Meitei.
“Our band is not purely folk but a fusion of shamanic, heavy metal and other different elements of music”, Vishal said.
In addition, Serpents of Music incorporates hymns of Meitei tribe, Japanese tribe and other communities, he said.
Innocent Eyes, The Vicious and The Square will also perform tomorrow, he said.
Serpents of Pakhangba lead vocalist Hinoki from Japan said that she is a student of linguistics of sound.
She said that she felt gratified on getting an opportunity to present hymns in Meiteilon and Japanese at Imphal.
Akash, another vocalist of Serpents of Pakhangba, said that shamanic culture was there since the dawn of human civilization.
“Our hymns, stories and songs originate from the beautiful land of Manipur and the rich culture and tradition of the Meitei community”, he added.
