Malem Thongam complains against CoTU

IMPHAL, Jan 2: Social activist Malem Thongam who recently made a cycling expedition from Delhi to Imphal under the banner ‘Cycling for Manipur Peace’ has lodged a complaint with Kangpokpi police station through Heingang police station seeking appropriate action against the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU).
Together with members of several Meira Paibi organisations, Malem Thongam went to Heingang police station at around 11.30 am today and submitted a complaint against CoTU.
During the last leg of Malem Thongam’s cycle expedition, CoTU issued a strong press statement on December 17 warning the peace activist from passing through Kangpokpi.
Even as Malem Thongam appealed to CoTU to withdraw their warning and prohibition within 24 hours, there was no response. Speaking to media persons at Heingang police station, Malem Thongam exuded confidence that police would take up appropriate action against CoTU.
