IMPHAL, Jan 2 : The Government of India (GoI) has asked all the States/Union Territories to cover children under Non-Institutional Care (Sponsorship, Foster Care and After Care) including children of PM Cares for Children Scheme, children in need of care and protection, children in conflict with law, child labour, child trafficking, child marriage and POCSO victims under Mission Vatsalya for the 2025-26 financial year.
As per the GoI, a total of 1,932 children in Manipur have been approved for Non-Institutional Care for FY 2025-26.
In a letter, the GoI said that all States and Union Territories shall follow the instructions contained in the Mission Vatsalya Scheme guidelines regarding selection of children, duration of sponsorship, review of sponsorship for Non Institutional Care Services etc.
Grant to the States/Union Territories shall be released through the SLS for Non Institutional Care under Mission Vatsalya subject to utilisation of funds and its availability, it said and added that the States/Union Territories must ensure that funds to the beneficiaries under Non Institutional Care are disbursed through DBT.
