IMPHAL, Jan 29: The India U17 men's team beat Tajikistan 4-2 at Margao, Goa today.
The first of two friendly matches was played at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Dallalmuon Gangte (8'), Denny Singh Wangkhem (48') and Washington Singh Ngangom (90+1') scored for India. A Tajikistan own goal in the 75th minute gave the Indians their 3rd goal.
Mekhrubon Odilzoda (18') and Sadriddin Sattorov (66') scored for Tajikistan.
The second friendly match between the two teams will take place on February 1.
Blue Colts head coach Bibiano Fernandes had named a 25-member squad for the two matches.
The Indian team has been training in Goa to prepare for the AFC U17 Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2026.
India qualified for the tournament for the 10th time after finishing above IR Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, and Chinese Taipei in the qualifiers held in Ahmedabad in November last year.
India will know their group stage opponents after the draw on February 12.
Tajikistan automatically made it to the AFC U17 Asian Cup by virtue of qualifying for the FIFA U17 World Cup 2025.
