GIST tumor removed at KARKINOS

IMPHAL, Jan 30: KARKINOS Hospital, Porompat has given a new lease of life to a man after successfully removing a Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor or GIST which infects stomach and digestive tract in very rare cases.
Speaking about the successful surgical operation performed by a team of doctors at KARKINOS Hospital with a challenge, Dr S Opendro, head of Surgery Oncology Department said that Ch Kanta of Takyel Kolom Leikai came for consultation at KARKINOS Hospital after undergoing treatment at several other hospitals without success.
After a thorough investigation, Ch Kanta underwent surgical operation on January 24, 2026 and the tumor was removed successfully, Dr Opendro said.
Equipped with world-class equipment, KARKINOS Hospital, Porompat has initiated several early detection processes in order to keep off and save people from cancer, he said.
Saying that he had visited several hospitals including a few ones outside the State and spent huge amounts for treatment of his tumor but without success, Ch Kanta expressed immense gratitude to KARKINOS Hospital and its doctors for successfully removing the tumor.
