29th Junior National Sepaktakraw C’ships State boys dominate in Regu event, seal 5 straight wins in Group A league round

IMPHAL, Jan 3 : State boys team produced a dominating performance in the Regu event to post five straight Group A league stage wins on the third day of the 29th Junior National Sepaktakraw Championships  at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara in Punjab.
Manipur defeated Himachal Pradesh 15-8, 15-5 in the opening match before defeating Telangana 15-4, 15-6 in the second match.
Manipur then thumped Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh to extend their winning run to 5 games and assured themselves a place in the quarterfinals.
Manipur will play Chhattisgarh in the final league round match.
State girls also had a brilliant start to their Regu campaign  (Group A) by securing three back to back wins. The girls defeated Chandigarh 15-7, 15-8 for the first win and eased to a 15-1, 15-5 over Tamil Nadu for the second win before beating hosts Punjab 15-10, 15-6 in the third match.

Meanwhile in the Quad event, Manipur boys, who are clustered with Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhan, Punjab, Karnataka and Jharkhand in Group B sealed four straight wins. They won 15-4, 15-6 against Karnataka in the opening fixture before cruising 15-1, 15-2 past hosts Punjab in the second match, 15-11, 15-4 past Uttarakhand in the third match.
Manipur then pulled off an easy 15-3, 15-4 win over Jharkhand in the fourth match.
Meanwhile, Manipur girls kicked off their league (Group A) campaign with a 11-15, 15-4, 15-4 comeback win over Madhya Pradesh before defeating Rajasthan 15-5, 15-7 in the second match.
