IMPHAL, Jan 3 : The Zeliangrong United Com-mittee (ZUC) and All Zeliangrong Medicos' Union (AZMU) have strongly con-demned the threat against Dr Linda Marangmei, an Asso-ciate Professor of Medicine at RIMS, by hurling live bullets and a warning letter at her residence at Ragailong on December 30.
Speaking to the media in Namdulong, ZUC president Meibon Phaomei appealed to all parties and individuals involved to refrain from engaging in such acts of inti- midation in the future.
He expressed concern over the rising trend of intimidation in Manipur, calling it unfortunate.
Meibon also stated that such acts of intimidation would discourage other medical professionals who work to serve the people.
Emphasising that misunderstandings or grievances, if any, can always be resolved through dialogue, he added that no good will come from intimidating others.
The ability of armed miscreants to enter a residential area and engage in criminal activities highlights significant lapses in the Government's security measures, he added.
AZMU, on the other hand, said that it views any form of threat against a medical professional as unacceptable and detrimental to the values of justice, security and social harmony.
The union urged the authorities concerned to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation, identify those responsible and ensure strict legal action.
AZMU also called for adequate measures to safeguard Dr Linda and her family.
