Thoubal Police seize 7 Kgs of WY tablets

IMPHAL, Jan 4: In 2025, Thoubal district police seized more than 7 Kg of brown sugar, over 5 Kg of opium, 3.67 Kg of heroin powder and 7.379 Kg WY tablets.
In a statement released to the media, the district police said it registered as many as 25 drug cases, and arrested 34 drug peddlers in 2025.
The quantity of drugs seized included 7.798 Kg of brown sugar, 7.379 Kg of WY tablets, 5.101 Kg of opium, 3.67 Kg of heroin powder, 18 grams of ganja, 1702 SP capsules, 887 N-10 tablets, 269 bottles of cough syrup and 20 Diazepam tablets.
The district police also seized 2984 litres of DIC liquor, 120.75 litres of IMFL and 13 can beers in 2025.
In operations against armed groups, the district police arrested 205 UGs and recovered 192 arms, 2888 ammunition, 214 magazines and 131 explosives.
In total, the district police registered 610 cases, and submitted chargesheets in 82 cases.
315 cases returned in FR, said the district police.
The district police registered 21 cases under crime against women and 19 cases under POCSO Act. While chargesheets were filed in 18 cases, two persons were convicted in 2025, it said.
The Thoubal district police also registered 92 motor accident cases.
Motor accidents killed 26 persons and injured 136 persons.
The district police arrested as many as 26 vehicle lifters.
