Mass rally protests "muder of Khaidem (ongbi) Chaoba"

IMPHAL, Jan 3: In connection with the "brutal murder of Khaidem (ongbi) Chaoba", a memorandum has been submitted to the Governor today urging for swift investigation and arrest of all culprits involved.
The memorandum was submitted after a protest rally and a public meeting were organised at Wangoi.
The rally, organised by the JAC Against Brutal Murder of Chanambam ningol Khaidem ongbi Chaoba Devi, started from Iramsiphai Leirak Ashangba in the morning and concluded at Wangoi Keithel, where the meeting was held.
Notably, the lifeless body of Khaidem Chaoba (27) was found by locals under mysterious circumstances at Thiyam Leishangkhong on December 27, 2025 a day after she reportedly went missing.
She was the wife of Nareshwor alias Boinaocha of Wangoi Mamang Khaidem.
Police have arrested four persons in connection with the death.
The meeting at Wangoi Keithel took several resolutions including a demand for swift investigation and arrest of all culprits involved in the incident.
The public meeting also took a resolution to oppose postmortem examination of the body until the truth of the case is ascertained.
Later in the evening, a crowd of people tried to storm the Lok Bhavan to submit a memorandum, containing the resolutions taken at the meeting.
Police stopped the crowd at Keishampat, and only a few representatives were allowed to enter the Lok Bhavan and submit the memorandum.
