IMPHAL, Jan 5: The Indigenous People’s Organi- sation Manipur (IPOM) and other associated organisations namely; World Meetei Organi-sation (WMO), Yelhoumi Kanba Lup (YEMKAL), Anouba Senmitlon, Meetei Pangal Council Manipur (MPCM), PALEM, AMSU and UPACO have called upon the people to stage mass sit-in-protests at their respective localities on January 6, 2026 against the Government’s failure to protect innocent citizens.
IPOM and all the organisations working together with it have also strongly condemned the serial bomb blasts triggered by suspected Kuki terrorists at Saiton Nganukon, Bishnupur district this morning which injured two villagers including a woman.
IPOM and other organisations have been working hard to bring an end to the Meitei-Kuki conflict, and restore peace in the State, said a press release issued by IPOM.
However, some Kuki militants have been trying repeatedly to sabotage the peace efforts and it looks like they (Kuki militants) are being patronised by the Government, it alleged.
It went on to ask if the repeated attacks carried out by Kuki militants against Meiteis in foothill and peripheral areas despite heavy security presence are parts of a Government’s secret plan to exterminate the Meetei community.
Confiscating all the weapons which were in the possession of Meiteis while allowing Kukis to remain armed to the teeth and giving them (Kukis) a free hand is a policy of the Government, it alleged.
It then called upon all the people to stand firm and collectively against this policy of the Government. IPOM has also appealed to all the people to join and support the mass sit-in-protest scheduled on Tuesday.
