IMPHAL, Jan 5: The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has strongly condemned the bombing incident carried out by unknown miscreants at Gamnomphai near Saiton this morning.
Such acts of violence are deeply disturbing, irresponsible and pose a grave threat to peace, public safety and communal harmony, said a press release issued by KZC.
According to the KZC, the incident occurred in and around the so-called buffer zone established by the security forces with the sole purpose of preventing confrontation and safeguarding civilian lives.
The KZC reiterated that the so-called buffer zone must be strictly respected by all at all times.
It appealed to the authorities concerned to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the incident, and identify and bring the perpetrators to justice at the earliest.
It also urged the security forces to further strengthen vigilance in and around the so-called buffer zones to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
