ASHA convention held

IMPHAL, Jan 7: The District Level ASHA Convention 2025-26 was held today at Gandhi Memorial Hall, Imphal where the contributions of ASHA workers from Imphal West district were recognized.
Organised by the District Health Mission Society, Imphal West, the event was graced by K Jadumani, ADM, Imphal West as the chief guest; Dr Ng Dayabati, Chief Medical Officer, Imphal West as the functional president and Dr Y Keshorjit, District Family Welfare Officer, Imphal West; Roshinichand Tourangbam, District Program Officer, ICDS Project Imphal West and Dr N Sushila, retd SMO, CHC Wangoi as the guests of honour.
Addressing the gathering, K Jadumani commended the ASHA workers, describing them as the backbone of the local public health sector and recalling their priceless contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite the availability of good health services and facilities, Imphal West still has its share of challenges, he said.
At the event, Dr Y Keshorjit described ASHA workers as a bridge between the public health sector and the public.
Meanwhile Dr Ng Dayabati called on ASHA workers to help curb crimes against women and children and child marriage. Highlighting their efforts, which are often carried out with minimal incentives, Dr N Sushila said ASHA workers deserve appreciation from both the public and the Government.
