DM alumni facilitates eye surgeries

IMPHAL, Jan 7 : In a commendable initiative, the alumni of DM College of Science (Class XII, 1996, and TDC, 1999 batch), in association with Yaima Eye Hospital, facilitated eye surgeries for 10 senior citizens. They were also provided spectacles free of cost.
Of the 10 recipients, nine are inmates of Kumbi relief camp, while the other is an elderly person living near the camp. Nine of them underwent cataract surgery, and one received surgery for pterygium, all free of cost, on December 5.
They were kept at the hospital for observation on the day of their surgeries, and their return to Kumbi were facilitated by the alumni group on December 6.
Ningthoujam Madhusudon, a member of the alumni group, stated that they have been providing all possible assistance to the internally displaced people since the onset of the crisis in Manipur.
He said that they will continue their services until all the IDPs are safely resettled to their native places and expressed his gratitude to Yaima Eye Hospital for their support in helping the IDPs.
