Chingkheihunba Polo Club take women’s crown, Arvind Polo Club-A claim junior boys’ title

IMPHAL, Jan 7 : Chingkheihunba Polo Club sealed the title of 20th Senior Women’s Polo Tournament as Arvind Polo Club-A claimed the title of the 9th Junior Boys State Level Polo Tournament.
Both the tournaments are organised by the All Manipur Polo Association at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the women’s final staged today, Chingkheihunba Polo Club (CHPC) beat AR Women’s Polo Team by 6-4 goals to earn the top honour of the 5-team tournament.
Th Tanna scored twice in the first chukker to earn CHPC a 2-1 lead with N Laxmi finding the target for the AR Women’s Polo Team.
M Bijenty then extended the lead to 3-1 by scoring one in the 5th minute of the second chukker before O Veronica scored AR Women’s Polo Team’s second in the closing minute and made it 2-3. The third chukker saw Veronica make it 3-3 by scoring in the first minute but Bijenty made sure CHPC enjoy one goal advantage by scoring one in the 4th minute.
The AR Women’s Polo Team fought back and drew level once again with H Pitu Devi scoring the team’s fourth goal in the fifth minute.
CHPC regained the lead with M Priya Devi and RK Neelu scoring a goal apiece in the fourth chukker that saw AR Women’s team draw nil.
Eventually CHPC walked away 6-4 winners.
Meanwhile in the Junior (U-16) boys’ final, Arvind Polo Club-A and K&MM Riding School-A failed to find the target but Amujao and Lanchenba scored a goal apiece in the second chukker for Arvind Polo Club-A to give a 2-1 lead before Nilachandra and Raju scored a goal apiece in the third chukker to seal the 4-3 win.
Daudas had earlier scored the first goal for K&MM Riding School-A before Nongdamba and Abhisek added a goal apiece in the third chukker.
