KCDO vs IBSA in 10th MNCA Plate Trophy final

IMPHAL, Jan 7 : KCDO, Kongpal and IBSA, Yumnam Leikai not only reached the 10th MNCA Plate Trophy final yesterday but also earned the promotion to the Superplate division next season.
The final match is slated for January 9 at Moijing Public Ground.
In the first semi-final match staged at Lairenjam Public Ground, IBSA sealed a 4 wicket win over YAC, Yaiskul.
Group A league winners, YAC won the toss and opted to bat first but their innings did not fare well and ended up scoring 147/7 in the allotted 35 overs despite Wayenbam Indrakumar adding 68 off 72 balls including 5 fours and 2 sixes.
Group B league runners up IBSA, then rode on Abdul Rafique’s unbeaten 51 off 49 balls to seal the victory in 29.5 overs with 4 wickets left to spare.
YAC got off to a shaky start and slumped to 14/2 in 6.3 overs before Wayenbam Indrakumar and Sarungbam Jacky forged 89 runs for the third wicket until Jacky had to retire hurt on 26 off 65 balls.
Leihaothabam Singhajit 17 off 12, and Amit Singh 10 also registered double digit scores for YAC in this innings that saw Azmad Kh (2/23), Pravesh (2/27), Mk Tamim (1/24), and Khundrakpam James (1/11) sharing 6 crucial wickets.
In reply, Nandakumar did his best to hold things together and added 70 runs with Nawaz Sharif (9), Nelson Keithellakpam (17), and Abdul Rafique before he was bowled out by Oinam John for the third wicket in the final delivery of the 17th over.
Abdul Rafique then anchored with an unbeaten 51 off 49 balls and finished off the chase with Md Shah Jahan 7 not out off 9.
IBSA captain WM Rajak (13 off 22) also provided assistance to Abdul as they gathered 43 runs for the 4th wicket.
John, who removed Nawaz and Nelson earlier, went on to undone Azmad Kh on 8 for the 6th wicket, to return with the best figures of 3/38 for YAC but his efforts could not restrict spirit IBSA from going past their target.
Leihaothabam Singhajit (1/25), Indrakumar (1/28) and Jacky (1/12) were also among the wickets for YAC in the innings.
Abdul Rafique of IBSA was adjudged player of the match.
In the second semi-final staged elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, PSC raised a modest total of 180/8 in 35 overs after opting to bat first but KCDO eased to the winning 184/5 in 24.1 overs courtesy of half century knocks from Mutum Jodiba 50 not out off 29 balls and Gold 50 off 42 balls.
PSC had a slippery start and slumped to 14/3 in 4.2 overs as Bony got rid of Tarique Aziz 8 and incoming Laimayum Prasantajit 0 in the second and third delivery of the 4th over before Ksh Dayananda undone Kharaijam Sagarjit on 4 for the third wicket.
Hijam Boba tried to calm things down but Ksh Devendro removed N Tony on 14 for the fourth wicket before incoming Bishwamitra departed on a 4-ball duck pinned lbw by Mandingbam Surjit.
When Surjit bowled out Boba on 41 in the third delivery of the 21st over, PSC were struggling at 82/6. The team further slumped to 93/7 with Bony of KCDO completing his three wicket haul (3/28) by bowling out H Biteshwor on a 28-ball for the 7th wicket.
The fightback came late as PSC skipper Gautam Soubam (47 off 50) and Netrajit Konsam stitched together 81 runs for the 8th wicket. Netrajit was unbeaten on a 27-ball 41 with L Martin 6 off 2 as they closed out the innings at 180/8.
Chasing 181 for the win, Phamdom Bikram 17, Devendro 30, and Gold 50 gave KCDO a promising start. They however slipped to 92/4 with Gautam of PSC leading the bowling attack but Mutum Jodiba took on the PSC bowlers and smashed 4 fours and 4 sixes to complete his 29-ball 50 and took the team to the winning 184 in 24.1 overs.
Gautam returned with the best figures of 2/31 for PSC in the innings as Biteshwor, Laimayum Prasantajit, and Ch Kenny picked a wicket apiece.
Bony, who led the KCDO bowling attack with a three wicket haul, was adjudged player of the match.
