2nd Khelo India Beach Games Premchandra-Sudhir open Manipur’s medal account with Pencak Silat gold

IMPHAL, Jan 7 : The pair of Yengkhom Premchandra and Wahengbam Sudhir opened Manipur’s medal account by winning a gold medal in Pencak Silat on Day 3 of the Khelo India Beach Games being underway in Diu.
Premchandra Yengkhom and Wahengbam Sudhir Meetei defeated Tamil Nadu's Bose Raja Guru and Selvakumar 555-536 to win the gold medal in the Ganda event of the Pencak Silat competition today.
Manipur also boosted chances for two more medals in the Pencak Silat competition with Yengkhom Rohit and Thokchom Rojit making it to the semi-finals of the men and women’s Tanding event.
Both the athletes are competing in the 50-55 kg category competition.
Sepaktakraw : Manipur reach women’s team event semi-finals
The day also saw Manipur reaching women’s team event sepaktakraw semi-finals.
Manipur beat Bihar by 2-1, Goa 2-0, and lost 0-2 to Nagaland in the league round but the two wins was more than enough for Manipur women to qualify for the semis.
In the men’s team event league round, Manipur beat hosts Daman and Diu 3-0 before losing 0-3 to Uttar Pradesh in the second match.
Manipur will play Assam in the third match.
