IMPHAL, Jan 8 : Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Satyabrata, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Manipur Ex MLA Welfare Association (MEMLAWA) have condoled the demise of Meinam Bhorot Singh, former MLA of Thangmeiband Constituency.
Satyabrata, in his message, said that Bhorot Singh was elected to the 8th Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2002 on a BJP ticket.
Saying that Bhorot served the people of Manipur with dedication and sincerity during his tenure and his contribution to the democratic process will always be remembered, the Speaker prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
He also extended his sympathies to the bereaved family.
Lamlai AC MLA Kh Ibomcha, while extending his condolences, also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
BJP, Bishnupur Mandal also conveyed their condolences.
Bhorot was a former president of the party, State unit, it said and added that a condolence meeting was convened today in the presence of Bishnupur AC MLA Govindas Konthoujam.
MEMLAWA, in a condolence message issued by its president Dr Nimai Chand Luwang, said that Bhorot was a disciplined and devoted worker known for his mild and soft-spoken nature.
His demise is a great loss to Manipur and the political fraternity, the Association said, extending its condolence to the bereaved family.
The Association stated that it has sanctioned Rs 30,000 to assist in the religious ceremonies for the deceased.
