IMPHAL, Jan 8 : Condemning the recent Saiton serial blasts which left two wounded, the Committee on Human Rights (COHR), Manipur has termed the incident as an act of terrorism.
In a press release, COHR said targeting civilian residential areas with powerful bombs and causing apprehension among the innocent citizens is a true "terrorist act".
Considering the heavy deployment of Central Security Forces in the area, COHR questioned how such an incident could have happened under their noses.
Adding that the Government of India should take responsibility for the blasts, it further demanded appropriate action from the authorities to ensure justice.
Issuing a similar condemnation, Leimarol Chanura Lamjinglup (Leichal) described the incident as a proxy war on poor Meitei civilians.
It accused "Kuki-Zo narco terrorists" of launching the bomb attack and further castigated the security personnel for remaining as mere spectators.
According to Leichal, the turn of events in the State begs the question if "we are Indian citizens or under Indian occupation".
