Manipur go down by 8 wkts to Assam in U-15 Women’s One Day Trophy

IMPHAL, Jan 8 : Manipur went down by 8 wickets to Assam for the fourth straight loss in the Elite Group D competition of the U-15 Women’s One Day Trophy at JU Second Campus, Salt Lake, Kolkata today.
After winning the toss, Manipur elected to bat first and were able to add 107 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 35 overs.
Assam then cruised to the winning 111 for the loss of 2 wickets within 24.3 overs.
Marvi 25 off 54, Malemnganbi 22 off 47, and Suchitra 19 not out off 14 led the scoring for Manipur in the first innings that saw Tanisha Kataki (3/13 in 6 overs) and Kaushalya Sahu (2/26 in 7 overs) sharing 5 major wickets for Assam.
In reply, Aradhya Dutta 23 off 43 and Saanvi Jain 44 off 63 gave Assam a solid start before Ritika Malakar guided Assam to the victory with an unbeaten 24 off 40 deliveries.
For Manipur, Bigyapati picked the only wicket in the innings.
Notably, Manipur had earlier lost to Rajasthan by 8 wickets in the opening match before going down to Uttar Pradesh by 160 runs in the second match, and to Delhi by 32 runs in the third match.
Manipur will play Karnataka on January 10 in the final league match at Aditya Academy Ground, Kolkata.
